KATSINA State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari has urged
Nigerians, irrespective of their religious beliefs, to join hands
towards overcoming the numerous challenges plaguing the nation.
In a message, yesterday, to mark Sallah celebrations, Masari also
congratulated the Muslim Ummah for successfully observing the 30 days
of Ramadan:
“As we are all aware, our dear country is going through one of the most challenging moments in its history.
“With the drastic global economic downturn negatively affecting
Nigeria’s income, the Boko Haram insurgency in the North-East, the
Niger Delta militancy, the irredentist agitations in the South-East and
the cattle rustling menace in the North, there is no doubt that the
lessons from the month of Ramadan are the tonic the nation needs to get
it out of the dire straits it is navigating.”
In a related development, Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III has
condemned the recent blast in the Holy Mosque of Prophet Muhammad in
Medinah.
He described the attack as dastardly and said “Islam abhors all forms of violence.”
Sultan Abubakar, who spoke in Sokoto, during his Eid-el-Fitr message
to the Muslim Ummah in the country, noted that “Islam preaches peace and
unity”, adding, “it is only the bad eggs among the Muslims who are
perpetrating such heinous acts.”
Abubakar further called on parents in the country to enroll their
children in schools to acquire both western and religious education.
“Education is the only key to success, and no nation can fully
develop without according it the priority attention it deserves,” the
monarch added.
Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi II enjoined Muslims across the
country to apply lessons learnt during Ramadan in their day-to-day
activities.
The emir made the call, yesterday, in his Sallah message to the
congregation at the Eid prayers in Kano metropolis, which was attended
by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and members of his executive
council.
Also, Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari enjoined Muslims
to continue to exemplify the worthy life of Prophet Muhammad and extend
same to adherents of other religions.
He stated this during his sallah message delivered at the Ilorin Central Yidi praying ground.
Senator Isiaka Adeleke called on Muslims in Nigeria, to allow
sobriety attend their daily lives at this material time in the annal of
Nigeria’s history, more so, as they celebrate the Edil-fitri to mark
the end of Ramadan Fast. This was contained in his sallah message signed
by his media adviser, Olumide Lawal.
Adeleke said more than ever before, Nigerians should embrace the old
wise saying of “cut your cloth according to your size”, thereby, making
them to live within their legitimate means without cutting corners.
